Rich Internet Applications

KISS's intimate familiarity with the web and all of its possibilities inevitably leads to ideas for Internet-based businesses. KISS has developed a number of custom software applications that have proved successful for clients, and we've spring-boarded from them with ideas for new stand-alone business potentials. AJAX/Web 2.0 enhanced Rich Internet Applications (RIAs), software-as-services business models, are under development now, designed and being developed for companies just like KISS - - small businesses of under 20 staff, split between in-house and telecommuting members but all needing to be on the same page every day.

We've applied our process in the creation of these Internet businesses, and approached them in the same holistic way we approach all projects at KISS. Two have been built and launched, each to clients in Ireland, and two more are in the works. The two completed RIAs, mashups each using data pulled from multiple sources and presented through a solid functionality system, are discussed below. Iterations of each for other geographical regions are available for that entrepreneur seeking his or her next venture. Our RSS software-as-services business allows for the selling of accounts to real estate agents and property owners looking to rent out vacation properties (condos, beach front cottages, private homes, apartments, whatever) on a weekly or monthly basis. Every detail of the property listing, including photos, amenities, rates, proximities to beaches, churches, shopping markets, etc., an availability calendar and online “live” booking with credit card payments, electronic signatures on Rental Agreements, and confirmation emails are all integral parts of the system. The system even manages inventory to prevent double booking, and displays only those rental periods that are actually available. Once accounts are opened, the web-based business virtually runs on its own.

The first RIA site for rental property management, for clients in Dublin, Ireland, was launched in January of this year at www.rentalsolutions-ireland.com. A second site, for Cape Cod, MA USA was launched in April, 2007 and is available for purchase at www.rentalsolutions-capecod.com. A third site, for the UK, was launched shortly thereafter, and it, too, is available for purchase at www.rentalsolutions-uk.com. An interactive Google Map feature will highlight rental property locations, and the booking is designed for both complete disclosure and ease of use. A Tee Time Reservation System for Golf Courses

There are simple tee time reservation systems available for golf courses already, but they miss a key element of simplicity - - - integration with all aspects of a golf course web site, including its Pro and Gift Shops.

People's attention spans in real life are already short; on the Internet, they are shorter, still. If the tee time reservation system is separate from the online Pro Shop, it's far less likely the golfer is going to buy a branded golf shirt or cap. Why would he want to enter his credit card information once for his tee time reservation, and then have to do it again for the Pro Shop in another section of the golf course's web site?

The KISS Golf Time system includes our already successful online shopping cart functionality into a single system, and a single interface for the web site visitor. Tee time inventory control is an integral part of our system, and slots are deleted from that inventory as they are booked. Golfers can receive a confirmed tee time reservation, book a cart or caddie, order a branded golf shirt and cap, perhaps even a sleeve of golf balls, and pay for everything all on a single screen. The shopping cart functionality is feature rich - - color swatches for clothing, ability to create custom options for all purchases, database storage of all customer information, including email addresses for future marketing.

These are the features that will set this system apart from others. Golf courses and clubs will be able to purchase accounts in this system for a modest set up and reasonable monthly fees, and customize the interface with the existing look and feel of their web sites. Entering tee time inventory is a one time thing, fully manageable from the password-protected back end; products are easily entered into the shopping cart with complete add/edit/delete functionality in all respects.

Golf Time Ireland was launched in the spring of 2007. This golf tee time reservation RIA, also, is locale-independent - - any region with a high golf course density is a suitable region. Other Businesses Under Development
Earlier in the development stage than our first two, but nonetheless moving toward completion are an AJAX/Web2.0 enhanced Customer Relations and Business Management software application for small businesses, Team Solutions Software, promoted elsewhere on this site, and an AJAX and PHP powered shopping cart software application for small businesses. Team Solution Software Version 1.0 is expected to launch in early August, 2007. The shopping cart RIA will be an early 2008 release.
